What is Botox?
Botox has remained the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure for a variety of reasons. Botox is derived from a purified protein called botulinum toxin-A. Once it is injected into your facial muscles around your eyes and forehead, Botox temporarily blocks nerve signals which in turn causes your wrinkles to relax and soften—leaving you with a more youthful appearance.
Botox Uses:
Botox is injected into a predetermined area. This will temporarily relax and stop the nerve transmission to smooth facial creases such as fine line and wrinkles. Primarily, we see Botox used to treat cosmetic concerns in patients such as on the forehead, around the eyes, and frown lines. However, Botox can also be used to treat a variety of medical conditions such as migraines and excessive sweating.
Botox in the Neck
Botox Injections for Excessive Sweating
It’s normal to sweat when you get nervous or are under a lot of pressure, but if you suffer from excessive sweating, it can be downright embarrassing. Luckily, with Botox injections, Dr. Esta Kronberg can temporarily block the release of the chemical in the underarms that causes excessive sweating. And, because results last for around six months on average, you only have to repeat your injections twice a year.
Botox Injections for Migraines
For patients who suffer from chronic migraines, Dr. Esta Kronberg may recommend Botox for migraines. By getting Botox injections every 12 weeks, we can help to stop your migraines before they even start by preventing abnormal muscle contractions which contribute to migraine pain.
Botox Treatment Areas:
The most common areas that Botox can treat are the frown crease between the eyes, eye wrinkles and the forehead. We can also treat the neck to make it look better in many ways. Other areas include:
- Crows feet
- Necklines and wrinkles
- Forehead lines
- Lines around the mouth
- Frown lines
Dr. Kronberg can also treat migraines, eye muscle tics and excessive sweating in the armpits (hyperhidrosis) with Botox.
How is Botox Performed?

Treatment is performed by Dr. Esta Kronberg at her dermatology office in Houston. She always make sure to use a fresh serum every time for maximum benefit. Any serum that is not used on a treatment day is discarded.

What Is the Difference Between Dermal Fillers and Botox?
Unlike popular belief, Botox is not a dermal filler like Restylane or Juvéderm. In fact, Botox works entirely differently than fillers do. Hyaluronic fillers actually fill in fine lines and wrinkles on the face whereas Botox works on a different level to block nerve signals that cause your facial muscles to contract.
Recovery After Botox Injections
After treatment, you may have a slight swelling at the site of the injection. This fades in about 5 minutes. Otherwise, we would like you to stay upright for 4 hours after the treatment. No exercise the remainder of the day. You will notice gradually over a few days the muscles relax and there is much less or no movement in the muscles of expression such as the “frown crease”.
