How does laser hair removal work?
Dr. Kronberg uses the Gentlase® Laser for hair removal. Dr. Kronberg beams the highly concentrated laser light into the hair follicles in the target area. The pigment in the hair attracts the laser light, which is converted into heat energy as it travels down the hair shaft. Once it reaches the follicle, the heat damages the follicle, preventing future hair growth.
There are many advantages to the procedure:
- Precision: The laser is programmed to target only dark, coarse hair, leaving surrounding skin undamaged. It doesn’t work on light blond or gray hair.
- Speed: Lasers only take a millisecond to fire their pulse of light. Plus, each pulse can target a number of hairs. This combination makes for fast treatment.
