Fraxel Your Way to Better Skin

Fraxel® laser procedures | Houston TXFraxel® laser procedures have quite a following in the aesthetic world. Used mostly for non-ablative skin rejuvation, Frexel® lasers dominate the aesthetic industry. Dr. Kronberg uses Fraxel® laser treatments to improve fine lines, moderate wrinkles, sun damage, mottled pigmentation, and scars. Fraxel treatments are non-invasive and have an easy recovery.

Ablative vs. non-ablative

In the past, there have been two kinds of available laser skin treatments for skin rejuvenation: ablative and non-ablative. Ablative treatments use high temperatures to vaporize unwanted tissue, usually on the epidermis. As you can imagine, these procedures require lengthy recovery times and often have side effects such as the possibility of infection and pigmentation changes. Most non-ablative treatments haven’t had any of the side effects or the downtimes, but they require numerous treatments to produce even modest results.

Fraxel laser treatments with Dr. Kronberg deliver the potency of ablative treatments but with the safety of non-ablative lasers. So, you get dramatic results without the downtime.

Fraxel pioneered fractional lasers

It’s been over a decade since Fraxel® introduced the first truly fractional lasers. Since that introduction, over 800,000 people have been treated in Fraxel sessions. The technology is advanced, but is easy to understand.

In a Fraxel session, thousands of microscopic laser columns, each just one-tenth the diameter of a hair follicle, are sent into the targeted skin. They penetrate down into the dermis, the second layer of the skin beneath the epidermis. These columns of laser energy create microscopic wounds that trigger a “wound response” in the body. That response is to produce new collagen, the protein that is responsible for the skin’s underlying support and structure, to repair the perceived “injuries.”

Also, this is where the term “fractional” comes into play. While the laser creates thousands of microscopic columns, the skin surrounding these columns is untouched and it helps speed the recovery of the microscopic holes. They actually heal within 24 hours, the process beginning immediately after the treatment session.

This fractional treatment reverses many of the visible effects of aging. Dr, Kronberg uses Fraxel® treatments to address:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles — like crow’s feet and brow lines
  • Surface scarring — acne and surgical scarring
  • Pigmentation — age spots, melasma, uneven tones
  • Sun damage — actinic keratosis pre-cancerous growths and other sun damage
