Refresh Your Skin with Microdermabrasion

MicrodermabrasionRidding your face of age spots, clogged pores, and dead surface skin doesn’t need to involve extensive recovery times and lots of pain. Microdermabrasion gives you smoother, younger-looking skin with no real downtime.

What is microdermabrasion?

Formerly microdermabrasion was done with fine crystals sprayed onto the surface layer of the skin, removing imperfections and dead skin. But the procedure wasn’t as gentle as the new method used at Kronberg Dermatology.

We now use a diamond-tipped wand combined with suction. The wand is passed across the areas of the skin needing treatment. The diamond tip removes the damaged skin and the suction vacuums away all of the dead tissue.

Why is this important for younger-looking skin? The surface of the skin can contain clogged pores and areas of dead skin. Microdermabrasion improves age spots, black heads, and hyperpigmentation. It also exfoliates the skin and lessens the appearance of stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and acne scars.

What will my appointment be like?

A microdermabrasion appointment usually takes around 30 minutes. Anesthetic is not required. During the procedure it may feel as if your skin is being scratched, but it won’t be painful. You’ll also notice a vibrating sensation, along with the suction.

Afterwards

There is no downtime required, so you can resume your normal activities immediately. Your skin will be pink and feel dry and tight for the first 24 hours, but moisturizer will address this.

Results

Your results will be immediate. Most patients opt to have dermabrasion once a month after their initial treatments to keep their skin looking younger.
